Some extracurricular activities outside of lactation;
Ann has been working as a research assistant with the Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich (LMU), where she got her PhD in Botanical Medicine in May 2017. She has been working as Lehrbeauftragter (adjunct professor) at the LMU Since August 2017.
She a certified master gardener through the University of Maryland's master gardener program graduated in 2010.
Ann and Robert live with their four children; Iona 17, Eleanor 14, Cedric 8, and Baby Mikka as well as; Prunella the little black cat, Tessu the guide dog, 4 pet chickens -who kindly gives delicious fresh eggs to them daily-, and a hand nurtured house-sheep called Lady Georgiana of Faust House, in Columbia, MD.
Her four happily -but not always easily- breastfed children taught her as much as -if not more than- many of the textbooks she has ever read, and emphasize, that every mother and baby pair is unique.
Ann's other interests outside the healthcare are travelling as much time as possible with her lovely family, organic and bio-dynamic gardening -especially herbal and medicinal plants-, fencing, swimming, and rock-climbing. She also officiates for USA Swimming as a stroke and turn official since 2012.
Ann is very excited to meet and work with you and your family if the need be.
Hi- My name is Joy King. I have been a registered nurse for over thirty years. I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1981. I have a newborn nursery and neonatal intensive care nursing experience. I am presently an international board-certified lactation consultant who is passionate about helping moms and babies with lactation needs.
Joy finished her internship before she took her IBCLC exams with Baby and Me and Ann ended up in flying colors! We are very happy that she joined our team and working as our backup lactation consultant, bringing of her never missing smile, years of experience and good humor with her.
After working for over 15 years in diplomatic service with her husband and travelling around the world. When they have had their first twins in 2000, and Moira immediately told by the hospital that she shouldn't think about breastfeeding her babies as it was very difficult. Luckily Moira met Ann through her husband, and with Ann's help, Moira exclusively breastfed all of her babies for months to come. (So don't ever give up because someone doesn't believe in you)
In 2009 Moira joined Baby And Me Lactation Services to support the whole team as the Practice Manager.
Moira has a degree in Business Studies and so uses her knowledge from that to ensure the Practice runs as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
Moira married with 5 children; (2 pairs of boy twins, and a little girl right in between the boys); Alexander, Laurance, Victor, George, and Frances. After taking early retirement they are raising their children and few animals including a small flock of rather hardy Boreray Sheep in the Scottish Isles.
